key contacts

if you have questions about waste management services and handling materials on campus, you can find the key contacts for specific items and services on this page.

goals and policies

UNC Charlotte has a 2030 goal to divert 60% of campus solid waste away from landfills. This means that at least 60% of the physical waste produced on campus would be recycled, composted, or reused. There are multiple state, local, and university policies that the campus must follow to achieve these goals.

where can I recycle

Public areas inside campus buildings are outfitted with recycling stations that collect three categories of waste: paper, cans & bottles, and trash. The university has standardized the signs at these stations. There are also outdoor recycling stations across campus.

what happens after collection

Once material is collected on campus, it is distributed to several locations for pickup across the state and region.
